My Work
Language
Having worked in tertiary education, I aim to teach students ways to improve their use of language. I share my ideas on how to write better academic essays and various academic documents.
Communication
Effective communication is not only the key, but the foundation of success. I share my thoughts on good communication, not only from the linguistic perspective, but also on other levels.
Current Affairs
I am interested in current affairs, especially politics. I comment on various social events, and explain how I understand these events in terms of their discourse and narratives.
About Me
I am interested in language, communication, and politics. Holding a PhD in linguistics from the University of Edinburgh, I taught as a lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist University.
My interest in effective communication has also led me to becoming a debate coach. Over five years, I led four teams to the finals of various Hong Kong debate contests, with one winning the championship.
As an armchair fan of political debates and elections, I like to merge my ardent interest in politics with my knowledge of linguistics to share how I see and understand current affairs in various ways.
